What we do, and how you help.

Conserve land.

We hold over 4,500 acres for conservation. We either buy lands outright, or draft conservation easements with landowners. Easements provide tax breaks for conserved lands. You can help us by putting your property under easement, or working with us on an outright purchase.

Fundraise.

Yeah. We gotta say it. This stuff all costs money! Stewardship of over 4,000 acres incurs costs like invasive removal, the occasional legal cost, and a litany of other items we’re sure you can imagine. We’re all volunteer run, so our annual operating cost is under $15,000. We can DEFINITELY say that even the smallest donation counts for us!

Restore damaged parcels.

Look around! You’ll see a lot of blackberry and reed canary grass where red osier dogwood and pacific ninebark used to live. Our main restoration site is the Discovery Trail, in Centralia. Join us for a project! We post dates on our Facebook page, so check us out there and follow us to stay informed.

Steward.

We try to reach every one of our parcels EVERY year in order to make sure our properties stay in pristine condition. It’s a lot of work and also a LOT of fun, if you’re like us and enjoy tromping around untouched woods and kayaking on peaceful waters! Join our stewardship crew or steward a parcel near you.

Educate.

We partner with local nonprofits and professionals to provide informative events for the public. This includes anything from pub nights to events with local grade schools. These events are sporadic so check in with us, or suggest a topic or location you’d like to learn more about.

Manage.

Did we mention this ENTIRE organization is run by volunteers? Yep, there’s six of us on the board of directors, and a truly truly amazing horde of volunteers who each have their own role to help make sure the Basin stays wild and beautiful. Join us! You don’t need any special skills or experience.
