The art of wildlife tracking is an incredible journey into studying the animals and living things all around us. During this free field session at Chehalis River Discovery Trail we invite you to follow along with Wildlife Tracker & Outdoor Educator, Ryan Johnson from Firecraft Northwest, to discuss and observe the tracks and signs we find along the paths and trails of this beautiful conservation area.
Depending on what we discover along the trails, we’ll cover about 1.5-2 miles. Generally, these walks are very slow. The trail is an out & back, mostly on flat mowed grass or dirt.
Participants:

Parking/Directions/Where to Meet:
From Harrison Avenue in Centralia, turn onto Goodrich Road. Follow Goodrich Road & drive past the Water Treatment Plant (on your right). Continue driving towards the gate that approaches the trail. You’ll see signage for the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust Event, with arrows along the road pointing the way. As you curve along the gravel road, please drive slowly. You’ll see other volunteers and parking on the grass next to the old Red Barn. We’ll meet at the benches under the metal shelter on the west side of the barn.
**Important: Please do not take side roads through the neighboring farmer’s property.
Restrooms: Restrooms are available at the ‘normal’ traihead parking next to the Water Treatment Plant (there are no restrooms along the trail).
