PORTER PARCEL: 0.3 acres on the shores of the Chehalis River in Porter, restored to native trees and shrubs in 2000.
SOUTH FORK NEWAUKUM PARCEL: 1.3 acres along the South
Fork Newaukum River, a stream with high water quality and good fish habitat.
BLACK RIVER FEE SIMPLE PARCEL: This 6 acre piece of land shows the effect of farming and neglect --
reed canary grass is a problem here. But the parcel can be improved and already provides a link to other
lands on the Black River that are protected by organizations such as the State of Washington, the Nature
Conservancy, and the Capitol Land Trust.
57 acres and 2.5 miles along the Chehalis River, with mature native forest including the largest grove of mature cottonwoods remaining in the Chehalis basin. Supports bald eagles, pileated woodpeckers, beavers, river otters and a variety of native flora and fauna.
26 acres of mature Sitka spruce/red alder forest along the Humtulips River near its confluence with Grays Harbor, interspersed with tidal sloughs. Supports a variety of forest-dependent wildlife including black bear, deer, pileated woodpecker and river otter.
BLACK RIVER Conservation Easement
Fourteen acres of wetlands, stream, pond, and forest along the ecologically rich Black River in Thurston County. In addition, an adjacent six (6) acre wetland owned outright by CRBLT.
