Kimber Parcel
This 20 acre parcel was given to the
Chehalis River Basin Land Trust in July 2006. The parcel lies in Grays
Harbor County near the the small town of Porter, and Porter Creek flows north to
south though the parcel. This means about 700 feet of the creek are
now protected along both sides !

A neighboring land owner has seen bear, elk and deer, as well as other small mammals. Porter Creek itself is home to most salmon species -- coho, chinook, steelhead and cutthroat. The meandering of the creek with woody debris and gravel bars are very good for the fish.

Vegetation on the parcel is quite varied. There are large maples and alder along the creek. On the western slope there are fir and cedar as well. The floodplains near the creek contain reed canary grass and blackberry, but could be improved. Currently, the variety is attractive to wildlife.
